Jan van Duikeren studied at the Rotterdam conservatory with Jarmo Hoogendijk. In 1997 he won the first edition of the Erasmus Jazz prize. An incentive prize for promising jazz musicians. In addition to the NRJO, Van Duikeren currently plays with his own band Fingerprint, The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, the JvD4 (with John English), his own wind section The Special Request Horns, (with Louk Boudesteijn and Guido Nijs) and he is the trumpet player of Candy Dulfer for 20 years. Besides playing, composing and arranging, Jan is also active as a main subject teacher at Codarts conservatory Rotterdam.
